Prof. Adrian Smith

Profile

Adrian Smith is a University Lecturer within the Faculty's Business and Economics Centre, where he works on education policies in developing countries. His current research focuses on access to schooling, the quality of state and non-state educational provision, and inequalities in learning outcomes.

 

His research interests are in educational leadership, educational effectiveness and improvement at the teacher, school and system levels. He is also interested in teacher professional development and has been involved in research projects related with human resource management in education and teacher and school evaluation. One main strand of his research agenda is the development and the investigation of the effectiveness and the sustainability of the effects of a newly proposed teacher professional development approach, namely the Dynamic Integrated Approach (DIA), which merges research on teacher training and on teacher effectiveness.
